O God, Our Father, we thank you for the
\nprivilege of coming home, again, to Portsmouth Island.
\nWe have come together to remember, to share fellowship,
\nand to celebrate our ties with this special island.<\/p>\n
You are the Creator of all that is beautiful and
\nholy. You know the thoughts of our hearts and the
\nmemories that come alive as we meet together in this
\nsacred and historic place.<\/p>\n
Thank you for the beauty and the spirit of this
\nquite place where, in days past, a thriving community
\nonce lived. Thank you for all who have lived here who
\nhave experienced the basic, honest and good life
\nin harmony with the wind and sea\u2026<\/p>\n
Our Father, make us aware and appreciative of
\nthe rich history of our North Carolina coastlands.
\nRekindle within us gratitude and joy, as we are
\nreminded of the heritage which is ours. Strengthen our
\nefforts to protect and perpetuate this heritage for our
\nchildren and grandchildren, and generations who will
\nlearn to love and respect this heritage.<\/p>\n
